It was a brutal night on the city's roadways.
1200 WOAI news reports about 11PM a motorcyclist lost control of his cycle as he was driving down Loop 410 near Harry Wurzbach, spun out of control and was thrown from the cycle.
Police say the male cyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. They say alcohol was a factor.
Then, about 4AM, a motorist lost control of his vehicle on Loop 410 on the west side and slammed into a light pole near 410 and Latigo, which is just south of Marbach.
He was ejected from his vehicle, and police on the scene at first thought he was dead. But he exhibited vital signs and was rushed to the hospital in extremely critical condition.
The wreck also prompted a major fuel spill which crews had to clean up.
