Early Projections: Oklahoma, Stanford Picked for Valero Alamo Bowl

The college football season doesn't even begin for more than a month, but the Valero Alamo Bowl today predicted that the Oklahoma Sooners and Stanford Cardinal will square off in this year's game at the Alamodome December 30, 1200 WOAI news reports.

 

  The Alamo Bowl asked five bit time college football swamis to look ahead, and Oklahoma was the near unanimous pick out of the Big 12.  But the wizards are divided on the Pac-12 team, with two predicting Stanford, one picking Oregon to make the trip to San Antonio, one picked Arizona State, and one picked USC.

 

  The fact that San Antonio's mayor is a Stanford graduate, we're told, had absolutely no impact on the forecast.

 

  The Alamo Bowl takes a status jump next year, grabbing the best teams out of both leagues after the eight BCS bowl contenders are selected.  This year the Alamo Bowl will host the third ranked team in the Pac-12 and number two in teh Pac-12.

 

  Oklahoma and Stanford met in the 2009 Sun Bowl, which the Sooners taking a 31-27 victory.
