The redevelopment and expansion of the Henry B. Gonzales convention center hit a speed bump, today, when the man in charge of the project was arrested on child pornography charges.
Philip Branson was busted by the FBI, who raided his office this morning and slapped on the cuffs.
"Mr. Branson was arrested based on an FBI warrant that came out of our Dallas office," Special Agent Jeff Allovio tells 1200 WOAI news. "He had been indicted up there this week on transportation of child pornography charges."
According to the indictment, obtained by 1200 WOAI news, Branson allegedly used peer-to-peer software to download images. One, obtained by federal agents, depicts a prepubescent male performing a sex act on an adult male.
If found guilty, he faces a sentence of between five and 20 years in prison.
Before coming to San Antonio, Branson, was the project manager of the recent $302 million expansion of the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
The $325 million Henry B. Gonzalez Convention expansion was set to be completed by April 2016.
