'Off His Meds,' Boy Leads Cops on Wild North Side Chase

A 12 year old boy is now facing big boy criminal charges after a wild police chase across the north side overnight.

1200 WOAI news says it began with an argument between the boy and his dad in the Saddle Ridge Apartments in the 5700 block of North Knoll, which is near Babcock and Eckhart on the northwest side.

Police say the youngster took his daddy's Cadillac, sped up, rammed a police car that was trying to block him, and kept going at speeds of up to 80 miles an hour.

He slammed into at least two vehicles on Huebner Road before slamming into a utility pole.

After that, he wasn't done.  The youngster jumped out of the wrecked Caddy and tried to run off, but officers caught him.

He is now charged with felony criminal mischief and may face additional charges.

Police say the boy has 'mental issues and was off his meds.'
