Tobin Center to Open With a Bang

Some of the top musicians, musicals, and entertainers in the country are booked into the new Tobin Center for the Performing Arts to kick off the city's new performing arts center, 1200 WOAI news reports.

The Tobin Center, which is being built in the old Municipal Auditorium on the River, will be opened by the Charlie Daniels Band on September 17th.  In the coming two weeks it will host Bill Cosby, Loudon Wainwright III, and The Best of Jethro Tull Performed by Ian Anderson.

It will be a full autumn at the Tobin, with Dave Mason and Traffic Jam, Don Williams, and Itzhak Perlman among the musical acts, Garrison Keillor and David Sedaris among the comedians, and 'An Irish Christmas,' 'Nice Work if You Can Get It,' and even '50 Shades! The Musical, The Original Parody' among the stage shows.

The spring brings Arlo Guthrie with his 50th anniversary tour of the classic 'Alice's Restaurant.'
